Pine Trees: Nature’s Drama
The last couple of months have been both busy and exciting as we settle into our new Bend Goods warehouse in Antelope Valley, California! We've officially moved into our 1.25-acre space, and while the furniture warehouse is up and running, it’s the land around it that has us most excited. We’ve got big plans for this property, and we can’t wait to share them with you!
One of our first projects has been working with the five large pine trees on the property. These trees have clearly been growing for years without much maintenance, so they’ve developed some pretty dramatic shapes. Some lean at odd angles, others have trunks that twist and curve, and a few even have a "crunch" effect—possibly due to old storm damage or the challenges of growing in this area.
A pine tree growing at a sharp angle can be caused by wind, root instability, or the sandy soil, which is very loose here and makes it easier for trees to shift. Since these trees are growing right above the warehouse, it’s important that we have them pruned and stabilized. We don’t want them becoming a hazard! It’s been exciting to see the trees starting to look healthier and more balanced as the work progresses.
Yard Cleanup:
Pool Removal:
After much debate, we decided to remove the pool. Repairing it was going to be too costly, so we punched holes for drainage and started filling it in. It’s a deep pool (9 feet at its lowest), but we’re making good progress.
Garden Plans:
With the pool area cleared, we plan to transform it into a beautiful garden. We’ll fill the pool with dirt and pack it tightly to create a solid base for plants and greenery.
Stay Tuned for More
But it’s not just about landscaping—there’s a lot more to come! We’re exploring how we can make the most of the land. One of our dreams is to raise chickens for fresh, organic eggs. None of us at the Bend Goods team have done this before, so it’s going to be an adventure, but we’re excited about it!
We’re so grateful for this space, and we can’t wait to see it transform into something amazing. Stay tuned for more updates as we turn this warehouse property into a place that’s not just for work, but also for growing, enjoying, and living off the land.
