Sustainability & Environmental Impact
At Bend Goods when designing products we consider all of the environmental impacts throughout the product life cycle. Sustainability is at the forefront during our design process and we are committed to reducing the impact of our products on the environment. We all have an environmental impact on the world and as a producer of goods we strive to minimize that impact. We continue to have an open dialogue with vendors on new processes that reduce the environmental impact of material gathering, manufacturing, packaging, shipping.
Designs that are Timeless
Although it can’t be quantified, we design our products to have a timeless quality and strive for aesthetic longevity. As our company matures we notice that many of our products produced years ago remain in use.
Products Applications
The product can fit into many spaces and applications. The functionality of our product spans across many applications and owners. Indoor, outdoor, commercial and residential. Allowing it to be used over and over again.
Materials that are Plentiful and Recyclable
The raw materials we use are plentiful and easy to source. Once turned into a product, the metal can be refinished many times, in different colors to make it brand new and passed on for generations to come. At the end of its life it can be melted down and created into a new product.
Our products are either stainless steel or galvanized zinc plated steel, which not only increase durability but also allows it to be recoated and reused at the end of its service life. The longevity of the product prevents the owner from purchasing new furniture and reduces the need for other resources to replace them.
Finishes
We use low VOC finishes wherever possible and specify finishes from reputable suppliers. We use top of the line powder coating, instead of wet spraying on our metal products.
Upholstery Foam
We use low VOC, commercial grade, flame resistant foams that have sustainable certifications such as Greenguard Gold Certified or CertiPUR.
House Fabrics
We have partnered with Glen Raven for our house fabric ranges who have strong environmental initiatives in place.
Manufacturing Process
Before engaging with our suppliers we visit facilities and discuss environmental laws, guidelines and determine how they consider sustainability when manufacturing. Where does the raw material come from? Is it locally sourced? What kind of waste is created in production? Do you recycle the waste? Is production toxic for workers? Are materials made with renewable sources? Any use of solar or wind in the production process?
We are happy to report that our partners have passed the government's environmental request. Materials are locally sourced and waste is recycled. Production is not toxic to workers and tests are frequently done to assure the safety of employees.
How are we reducing the impact of Shipping?
We are a Los Angeles based company, but operating globally. Our products are shipped all over the world and for that reason we try our best to minimize packaging, while making sure our products are still delivered securely. We are able to ship 2 chairs per box and our tables are shipped flat-packed. Our pieces sometimes require minimal assembly, but the reduction in boxes has a big impact on our environment.
