Crafting the Tube Collection: Behind the Scenes

The Tube Collection by Bend Goods stands as a testament to our commitment to pushing the boundaries of furniture design. Inspired by the graceful contours of the human body, each piece in this collection boasts captivating cantilever shapes that redefine modern aesthetics. But what does it take to bring these innovative chairs to life? Let's delve into the fascinating process behind their creation.

Tube bending, often regarded as a black art, is a mysterious process that involves inevitable trial and error. Crafting the Tube Chair posed unique challenges, especially due to the distinctive cantilever shape of the tube. Achieving the perfect balance between the tube's wall thickness—ensuring it's bendable without deforming—and creating a lightweight yet durable product was crucial. One of the main hurdles was preventing deformation during the bending process, with the outside radius prone to flattening and the inside radius susceptible to buckling and wrinkling. To overcome these obstacles, our team at Bend Goods developed a special die—a tool used in a rotary-draw-bending machine setup. This die played a pivotal role in maintaining the structural integrity and visual appeal of each chair in the Tube Collection.

Our manufacturing process relies on a skilled team of tool and die makers, utilizing their expertise in engineering skills such as CNC, grinders, jigs, hand tools, machine tools, calipers, and surface grinders. Their meticulous attention to detail ensures that each piece meets Bend Goods' exacting standards of quality and craftsmanship. From dining chairs to stools, lounge chairs, and tables, every item in the Tube Collection reflects our dedication to excellence in design and manufacturing. By overcoming the challenges of tube bending and pushing the boundaries of what's possible, Bend Goods has created a collection that stands apart in the world of furniture design.

Working with our factory is always exciting for us because it's where our ideas come to life. Seeing skilled workers and machines in action inspires us and reminds us why we love what we do. The journey from sketch to product is fascinating, starting with a simple idea on paper and evolving into detailed plans and prototypes. Witnessing these prototypes become reality is thrilling as we refine and perfect each aspect until we achieve the final result. It's a journey filled with challenges and successes, but seeing our idea become a tangible product makes it all worthwhile.
