Design on a Dime - MiamiBehind The Bend
Charitable causes are something that we love to contribute to, especially when it is design oriented! So when our friend Keith Powell of AKP Interiors came to us with an opportunity to be involved with Design on a Dime - Miami we couldn’t say no. Design on a Dime is a charitable event that is hosted twice a year (once in New York and once in Miami) that benefits Housing Works. Housing Works is a remarkable charity that raises money to fight the tandem problems of homelessness in the HIV+ community. Upon hearing all that Housing Works does, we couldn’t help but get involved!
Keith approached us to be a vendor for his booth when we met him at the High Point Market in North Carolina. He had such a clear vision for what he wanted to do with the space and how Bend would be the perfect compliment for his plan. That plan included a wide array of Olive Greens, Neutral tones, and jolts of Blue with a mix of contemporary furniture and accessories. Once we laid eyes on the design scheme, we knew that it was going to be an epic plan!
After months of planning and coordination, Keith unveiled his design featuring our Farmhouse Lounge, Cono Table, Peacock Lounge, Sweet Stool, and Drum Table in a variety of custom colors. The room was striking and helped raise thousands of dollars for Housing Works during the furniture and accessories silent auction. Good design and goodwill? What more could you ask for?
DOAD Miami 2018 was one for the books and we are thrilled to have been included! We can’t wait to see how future shows unfold and help with the important initiatives put forth by Housing Works.
