The Plot: Zero-Waste Dining by the Pacific
- Location: Oceanside, CA (South Coast Highway)
- Founders/Design Vision: Davin and Jessica Waite
The Plot is a celebrated plant-based, zero-waste destination located just steps from the Pacific Ocean. The interior is a study in organic textures, featuring reclaimed mushroom wood and a design philosophy that is as considered as the hyper-local food itself.
Our products were curated to fit seamlessly into this warm, indoor-outdoor environment. In a high-traffic restaurant setting near the coast, the furniture needs to be both visually light and incredibly resilient. The airy, lattice-like structures of our wire collections provide a modern, geometric contrast to the rustic reclaimed wood without obstructing the flow of the space. Whether patrons are dining in the organic interior or on the patio, our pieces maintain the "California spirit" by blurring the lines between the restaurant and the coastal surroundings.
The synergy between Bend Goods and The Plot is rooted in a shared commitment to sustainability, craftsmanship, and design ambition. Much like the restaurant’s zero-waste mission, our furniture is engineered for long lifecycles with a minimal environmental footprint.
Bend was an ideal use case for this project specifically because of its proximity to the ocean. To combat the corrosive salt-water air, we utilized 316 Stainless Steel for the frames. This high-grade material ensures that the "visual radicalism" of the furniture remains intact, providing a durability that standard "cheap outdoor furniture" simply cannot match. The "fluid structural language" of the wire mirrors the movement of the nearby waves, creating a cohesive aesthetic that feels both industrial and natural.
Founded by visionary chefs Davin and Jessica Waite, The Plot has become a landmark for ethical dining in Southern California. By choosing Bend Goods, the founders have invested in a "21st-century renaissance" of wire furniture that is built to last as long as the reclaimed materials surrounding it.
Our chairs have been a part of this zero-waste narrative for years, proving that "wire, done right," is one of the most expressive and sustainable materials in modern hospitality design. By integrating these pieces into a space that values the "voice for the voiceless," The Plot continues a legacy of considered design that honors both the guest experience and the planet.
