Flower & Cream: An Artisan Color-Forward Experience
- Location: Houston, TX (Holcombe Blvd, POST Houston, and Regent Square)
- Designer: Gin Design Group (Creative Director: Gin Braverman)
Flower & Cream is a celebrated Houston destination known for its rotating selection of house-made artisan ice cream and a "joyful, color-forward aesthetic". The design is inspired by one of the shop's specialties—macarons—featuring a playfully organic ribbon of peach, berry, mint, and lemon that wraps around the floors and walls.
Our products were curated to fit seamlessly into this high-traffic restaurant environment, where maintaining a "light and airy" feel is essential to the customer experience. The Café Tables featuring our signature Diagonal leg pattern were selected in a crisp white to complement the shop's beautiful color palette of dusty, muted pastels. In these limited space areas, the geometric lines of the diagonal legs provide a sense of movement and visual interest that doesn't crowd the room, allowing the vibrant colors and "bright terrazzo effects" to take center stage. The white finish offers a clean, sophisticated touch that bridges the gap between industrial materials and the playful, artisan spirit of the brand.
The synergy between Bend Goods and Flower & Cream is rooted in a shared "design ambition" and a love for "chromatic range". Much like Flower & Cream’s commitment to small-batch, handcrafted flavors, Bend Goods utilizes CNC precision to create complex geometric patterns that are both durable and artistically expressive.
Bend was a great use case for this project because our furniture is engineered for the rigors of a busy hospitality space while maintaining a "fine art" status. The diagonal table legs, with their "fluid structural language," echo the whimsical and creative nature of an artisan creamery, which even includes an upholstered rope swing seating section to summon childhood memories. By applying the "technical rigor" of modern fabrication to these café tables, we provided a seating solution that is as "considered" as the ingredients in every scoop.
Since its opening in 2019, Flower & Cream has become a staple of Houston's culinary and design history, even winning a MUSE Design Award for its unique interior. The project stands as a testament to the vision of Gin Design Group, a firm renowned for developing fully integrated designs for award-winning food and beverage concepts.
Our furniture has been a part of this journey for several years, offering "longevity" through high-quality powder coatingt hat stands up to heavy daily use while staying vibrantly on-brand. By integrating Bend Goods into this "21st Century Renaissance" of hospitality design, Flower & Cream has discovered what the mid-century masters knew: that wire, done right, is one of the most expressive and durable materials for a forward-looking brand.
