What is Terrazzo?
Terrazzo is comprised of arranged chips of marble, quartz, granite or glass, with either a polymeric or cement-based binder poured on top. The result is a stunning piece, versatile in any application; flooring, counters and table tops.

The Roots of Terrazzo
Terrazzo goes all the way back to 8000BC, but it became most famous in Venice in the 18th century. A lot of the Terrazzo floors that were made during this period still exists today. Did you know that the word Terrazzo comes from the Italian word for terrace? It was chosen by the Venetian workers that used the composition material to surface the terraces surrounding their homes.

Benefits of Terrazzo
Terrazzo is a very strong material that can withstand the age of time. Look at those Venetian floors that can still be found all over Italy! Because Terrazzo can be made with a lot of different parts, it’s the perfect way to recycle old into NEW. Here at Bend Goods we think it’s important to use recyclable materials in our products and furniture, so we keep our environmental impact as low as possible.
Not only is Terrazzo a great material option regarding recycling, it’s also very user friendly. It can be used both indoors and outdoors, (depending on the materials that are used in mixing the concrete), making it one of the most versatile materials. Once the Terrazzo mix is sealed properly, it won’t stain or get water damage. This also means that once you have a Terrazzo product in your home, you won’t need to take care of it. Well, except for maybe giving it some love and a wipe with a damp towel every now and then. Thankfully, if the surface of Terrazzo gets worn down over the years, it can always be re-polished to look brand new again.
