THE JOURNEY CONTINUESBehind The Bend

With our first Salone del Mobile behind us, there is no time to rest. We have a few more stops to make before we head back to the states to prep for ICFF. Part of our team was so inspired by the show that we decided the stay in Italy for a few more days and see the sights. You can see some of what they are seeing in the gallery at the right.

As for Salone del Mobile, we are overwhelmed and very excited about the experience that we had there. We found this great trend wrap up from Made below, and we think it's a good taste of what we experienced. Head to the feature HERE for the corresponding photos. We can't wait for next year.

Bringing in nature - Our growing concern for the planet and nature was reflected in the interiors trends we spotted at this year’s Milan Salone del Mobile. Designers are feeling the need to get closer to Mother Nature.

Plants, flower prints and different types of wood were mixed and brought the outdoors into the home.

Cane – the new in -  After seeing lots of rattan being used at recent fairs, especially for outdoor furniture, cane is now having its moment. The big news is that cane is no longer just for chair seats - it’s being used in everything from coffee tables and headboards.

Marble moves on -  As you may have spotted on just about every design-conscious Instagram account, marble has moved centre stage, adding a hint of glamour wherever it goes. What’s different about it now is the range of colors you’ll see it in - think peaches, blush pinks and inky black.

Back to the future -  Iridescent glass is a trend to look out for in 2017. It’s part of a wider theme for pieces that look almost space age. We saw designers experimenting with interesting colors giving the futuristic an elegant touch.

Luxury 70s -  Dark or “ombre” glasses, green and black marble, dark wood and oversized coffee tables. Forget any taste crisis that might come to mind when you think “70s”. Take our word for it, this latest 70s vibe comes from a place of impeccable taste.

Metal layers -  The seductive shine of metal will stay with us into next year, embracing geometry and new manufacturing processes. The big news is that brass is the new metal to set our hearts a-flutter following copper’s storming success over the last two years.
