15 Years of Bend Goods: The Evolution of Our Design
This year, Bend Goods celebrates 15 years of creating furniture that’s functional, playful, and unmistakably ours. Over the last decade and a half, our design aesthetic has grown, shifted, and explored new territory—all while staying rooted in a core philosophy: create pieces that make spaces feel lighter, brighter, and more joyful.
From Wire to Wonder
When we started in 2010, our first collection was simple, airy wire chairs. Thin, see-through, and almost floating in space, they were designed to keep rooms open and flexible. The minimal forms, precise angles, and delicate lines became our signature aesthetic—lightweight, functional, and visually playful.
Over time, we experimented with comfort, adding subtle curves, padding, and ergonomic tweaks. Even these small changes transformed our pieces, making them feel approachable without losing the sculptural quality that defined the brand.
Material Experimentation
As we evolved, our designs expanded beyond wire. We began exploring new materials, textures, and finishes, all while keeping our design language cohesive.
-
Wood, leather, and rattan were integrated into select collections, balancing warmth and tactility with the airy lightness of metal.
-
Perforated and tubular metal forms allowed us to play with structure and scale, creating bold silhouettes that demanded attention in any space.
Each material decision informed how our pieces functioned in real spaces—residential, commercial, and even outdoor environments—reinforcing that design is both practical and expressive.
Scale, Shape, and Form
Over the years, we explored geometry, scale, and proportion in new ways. Chairs became cantilevered, stools grew sculptural, tables evolved with playful asymmetry. Modular systems and larger-scale forms allowed our furniture to adapt to a wider range of spaces while maintaining the distinctive Bend personality: lighthearted, bold, and approachable.
Inspiration Everywhere
Travel, architecture, and everyday observation continue to shape our aesthetic. We find inspiration in modernist design, classic 70s forms, and the unexpected shapes and textures of the world around us. Each new collection reflects a dialogue between past and present—a nod to tradition with a contemporary twist.
Design Philosophy in Motion
At Bend Goods, evolution isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about functionality, adaptability, and delight. Every line we draw, every curve we bend, and every material we test reflects a commitment to design that makes life a little more joyful.
Fifteen years in, our work is still defined by experimentation, play, and curiosity. And as we look forward, we’re excited to see where the next fifteen years of design exploration will take us.
